我曾见到男人

I've seen men made fragile and insecure

被对男性成功的扭曲定义弄得脆弱不安

by a distorted sense of what constitutes male success

男性也同样没有享受到平等的益处

men don't have the benefits of Equality either

我们不常谈论男人为性别成见所困

we don't often talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes

但我看得到他们确实如此

but I can see that they are

所以他们重获自由之时

and that when they are free

女性的处境也将自然有所改变

things will change for women as a natural consequence

如果男性无需为了被接受而锐气逼人

if men don't have to be aggressive in order to be accepted

女性则不会觉得自己被强迫着

women won't feel compelled

变得唯唯诺诺

to be submissive

如果男性无需掌控

if men don't have to control

女性则无需被掌控

women won't have to be controlled

男性和女性都应有脆弱的理由

both men and women should feel free to be sensitive both men and women

男性和女性都应有坚强的理由

should feel free to be strong

此时我们应当将性别视作一个范围

it is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum

而非势不两立的不同极端

instead of two sets of opposing ideals

如果我们停止

if we stop defining each other

以我们不是什么样子来界定对方

by what we are not

并开始以我们是什么样子来界定自己

and start defining ourselves by who we are

我们就都能获得自由

we can all be freer

政治家埃德蒙伯克曾说

Statesman Edmund Burke said

只要善良的男女袖手旁观

all that is needed for the forces of evil to triumph

邪恶的力量能够凯旋而归

is for good men and women to do nothing

我们正为一个团结的词汇而奋斗

we are struggling for a uniting word

为人所见

to be seen

并且扪心自问

and to ask yourself

若非是我谁来行动

if not me who

若非此刻更待何时

if not now when
