哥大校长毕业典礼励志演讲:

“年轻人要记住这十件事!”

今天我也格外感慨

I am especially sentimental today

这将是我担任哥大校长20多年以来最后一次毕业典礼演讲

as this will be my last commencement speech after serving more than two decades as president of Columbia University

我视今天为我们共同的毕业典礼

I like to think that we are graduating together

我相信我和你

i am sure that you and I

都将在余生中将这一刻铭记

both will hold this moment in our hearts for the rest of our lives

我想给你们十条建议

so there are the 10 ideas

了解你的消极冲动

know your bad impulses

感受我们的巨大无知

feel our vast ignorance

努力看到事物的复杂性

work at seeing the complexity of

而不是先寻求答案

things not the answers

养成保持开放精神的习惯

make it a habit

问更多的问题 而不是提供答案

ask more questions than provide answers

设身处地的想象自己是那个

imagine you are the person

与你意见不同的人

you disagree with

在日常生活中看到事物的复杂性

see complexity in ordinary life

在人际关系中保持开放和共情

be open and empathetic in relationships

学会记录

keep notes 

让时间帮助你成长

and let age help you out
