“当务之急”意思是当前急切应办的要事，译为the most imperative task。Imperative指“紧急的，极重要的”。也可译为thing of top priority, the most pressing matter。

只有创新才能自强、才能争先。

Innovation is the only way to make China stronger and become a frontrunner.

Frontrunner指赛跑中跑在前头的人，竞争中的领先者。

Education

百年大计，教育为本。

Education is the foundation of national development in the long run.

In the long run指从长远来看。如：In the long run, sleepers may end up failing classes.从长远来看，这些在课堂上睡觉的人最终可能会挂科。

Social governance

民生是人民幸福之基、社会和谐之本。

People’s livelihood constitutes the basis of people’s happiness and social harmony.

Constitute表示“构成、(被认为或看做)是”。“本”指“基本、根本"，可译为basis, foundation, essence等。

Agriculture

粮食安全是“国之大者”。悠悠万事，吃饭为大。

Food security is among a country’s most fundamental interests. Of all things, eating matters most.

国之大者,就是事关党和国家前途命运、事关中华民族伟大复兴、事关人民幸福安康、事关社会长治久安的大事。Fundamental指“十分重大的，最根本的”。Matter作动词，指“事关紧要”。
